Colonel Tamara Thomas-Herwels

Ms Thomas-Herwels holds LLB. Degree She completed a Pilots’ Wings Course in 2002, Maintenance Operational Test Pilot 2008, Advanced Military Law Course and Law of Armed Conflict from the School of Military Justice.

She is currently serving under Military Aviation Regulation and Policy unit, writing policies and regulations, managing SA Air Force operational policy related matters. She was the Officer Commanding 35 Squadron Air Force Base Ysterplaat.  Ms Thomas-Herwels was the first Coloured female to qualify as a pilot in SA Air Force on 05 March 2005. Colonel is representative of the Department of Defence (South African Air Force) in the Council
