Policy and Legal Committee
Establishment
The committee was established in terms of Section 8(1) of the South African Space Affairs Act, No 84 of 1993 as amended.
Mandate
The mandate of the committee is to provide guidance to the Council on legal, regulatory and policy related matters as follows;
- Guidance on review and/or development of space legislation , regulations and policy;
- Develop governance processes for the implementation the licensing and related procedures under the Act;
- Strategic guidance on matters concerning compliance, ratification and implementation of the Space Treaties and applicable national legislation; and
- Ensure effective contribution and participation in National and International Space Regulatory Forums.

Establishment

The mandate of the committee is to provide guidance to the Council on scientific and technical regulatory matters as follows;
- Guidance on review and development of technical input to space legislation , regulations;
- Develop governance processes for technical implementation of the licensing and audit procedures under the Act;
- Strategic guidance on scientific matters concerning compliance, ratification and implementation of the Space Treaties and applicable national legislation; and
- Ensure effective contribution and participation in National and International Space Scientific Forums.
